I changed about 70% of the water in my 15 gallon tank. I took 90% of the plants out of there too. They were full of snails. The plants that are left will propagate in no time covering the water surface again. I had fish eggs in there a week ago. I thought they were snails so I broke them against the glass. Crying or Very sad They weren't snails. Crying or Very sad My wife and I are hoping that since they spawned once they'll spawn again! Cool

How do the snails grow, I mean where do they come from? What kind of plants do you have in there? I would like to start a tank so any insight is great.

The snails I've got hitched a ride on some plants in the form of eggs. This is the most common way of having snails in a tank. I have some Java Fern, Windelov Java Fern, a dwarf sword plant and a type of Hygrophilia (can't think of the common name). The lights that come with an aquarium generally won't be enough to grow plants. All the plants I have are low-light plants. This means less than 1.5 watts per gallon of light. I have about 80 watts of light on my 55 gallon. The lights I have are all after-market and total cost is just less than $200.
