Never heard of it. I was just reading up on it. Have you dosed his bowl again? If so, try changing some, not all, of the water and re-dosing again as per the instructions. Sometimes fungus can be a real pain to eradicate.

I hope he comes out OK. I've never successfully kept a betta. They always get ick, fungus, bubble eye or some other disease.

We just bougt our kids a starter tank, 5 gallons, they love it ! I bought about 8 fish, 2 neons, 2 very hyperactive tetras, not sure what else, but they're cute. Can I put a Betta in there or are they too aggressive ?

No. Other than the neons what exactly are the other fish? 5 gallons is quite small. Usually only used in the hobby for a single betta or to spawn guppies for feeders, quarantine tank or a grow-out tank. A lot of tetras out there grow to about 2 inches and will outgrow the tank quite quickly.

That's a Black Skirt tetra. Nice fish! Mollies, Black neons as well. Anyway, the tetra looks like it has mouth fungus. Is it kind of cottony looking?
Here's a thread from my fish forum on mouth fungus. Have a look through the Disease forum for Freshwater fish. It has most of the potential diseases and cures as well.
